2.         That the Cabinet Member for Finance, Property and Corporate Services delegated authority to the Director of Property Investment and Estates to conclude negotiations based on the provisional Heads of Terms to secure a lease on the premise as identified in the report, on the basis that it will result in savings as detailed in the report.

3.         That the Cabinet Member for Public Protection and Licensing approved the proposed acquisition to rehouse the seized goods operation in more cost effective premises that meet the changed requirements of the service.

Reasons for Decision

1.         Operationally, the relocation of the Seized Goods Service will provide West End City Inspectors with premises of a better value and make the Council annual savings.

2.         The acquisition contributes to the Council’s ‘City for All’ - Smarter Council vision. By taking this proactive approach savings can be delivered by relocating the service to a more cost effective location without compromising service delivery. This approach is also consistent with the aims and objectives of the Council’s Asset Rationalisation Strategy.
