Description
A right to light is a legal easement that gives a landowner the
right to receive natural light through windows in their
buildings.
A release of rights to light is a deed that releases an existing
right of light enjoyed by a building to allow a development on one
property to proceed without infringing on the rights to light of an
adjacent property.
In this instance, the Deed of Release of Right to Light is between
the Council and the legal proprietor of Marylebone Telephone
Exchange.
Progressing the Deeds of Release and Manual Payment Forms for the
issue of the Rights of Light Compensation Payments, will facilitate
the development and the associated statutory obligations of the
Council.
Decision
To enter into a Deed of Release of Right
to Light between the Council and the legal proprietor of Marylebone
Telephone Exchange, 5-11 Nottingham Place, London, W1U 5EL (the
Property) whereby the legal proprietor of the Property will release
their right to light in exchange for compensation payable by the
Council.
