Summary of Decision

The Cabinet Member for City Management and Air Quality approves Phase Two of the safety improvement measures in the Piccadilly Underpass which includes the replacement of the existing ventilation fans. The Cabinet Member also approves the detailed expenditure of £7,950,000 outlined section 5 of the report.  

Reasons for Decision

These improvements will mean that Piccadilly Underpass is operated in accordance with modern safety standards, which will minimise the risk to tunnel users, improve safety, and ensure the Council is meeting its obligations as a tunnel operator.
