To approve the allocation of £692,420 of Neighbourhood CIL, made up of two high value applications: King Solomon Academy Playground Redevelopment Scheme, and WCC Outdoor Gyms and Multi Use Games Areas (MUGAs).
Decision:
Cabinet approved the following recommendations:
· Approve the allocation of £298,420 of NCIL funding from multiple neighbourhood area pots to support the playground redevelopments at The King Solomon Academy.
· Approve the allocation of £394,000 of NCIL funding from multiple neighbourhood area pots to support the WCC Communities scheme of Outdoor Gyms and MUGAs
Reasons for Decision
Funding for King Solomon Academy will support the redevelopment of two of the outdoor spaces at the younger years site, located in the Little Venice ward, and three spaces at the older years site, located in the Church Street ward.
Funding for the WCC Communities team will redevelop Multi Use Games Areas (MUGAs) and provide new Outdoor Gyms in Church Street and on Churchill Estate. These two areas have been identified as communities that have been impacted by health inequalities due to a high proportion of inactivity, thus investment which increases access to physical activity opportunities is a priority.
