To take account of the need to ensure that the
kerbside of the Westminster Highway network is better managed to
suit the 21st Century demands of residents, businesses and visitors
a new kerbside management hierarchy is recommended for future
adoption in respect to all future parking, loading and waiting,
traffic management and public realm schemes implemented on the
street. The emphasis will be on the creation of calmer residential
streets where residents find it easier to walk and cycle around
their neighbourhoods, the redesign of our High Streets to ensure
that deliveries are easier made and shoppers can better access such
areas on foot, by cycle, by bus and by car and then there is the
need to ensure that certain strategic corridor routes are better
managed for the through and safe passage of vehicles that need to
travel through Westminster.
