Councillor Nickie Aiken declared an interest in Item 4 as she had two children attending schools in Westminster.

To approve the minutes of the meeting held on 22 February 2016.

3.1     The Leader, with the consent of the Members present, signed the Part I and Part II minutes of the meeting held on 22 February 2016 as a true and correct record of the proceedings.

4.1     Andrew Christie introduced the report.  He explained that the report was now required to be presented on an annual basis.  The report reflected how the Council would ensure there were sufficient school places in Westminster.

 

4.2     Councillor Danny Chalkley welcomed the report which had only been produced in each of the last 3 years.  The report allowed the Council to plan for future school placements and evidenced that this was being done.

 

4.3     Resolved:

 

          That approval be given to the School Organisation and Investment Strategy 2016 contained in Appendix B of the report and the recommendations contained therein.

 

4.4     Reasons for Decision

 

          The School Organisation and Investment Strategy sets out the Council’s plans for complying with its statutory duty of providing sufficient school places for every child who needs one.

Minutes:

6.1     The Leader, on behalf of the Council, thanked Andrew Christie who was retiring as the Tri-borough Executive Director of Children’s Services for all his work in undertaking an amazing job in establishing the Tri-borough service.  Councillor Aiken endorsed this and added that the Tri-borough Children’s Service was a success as a result of his dedication.

 

6.2     Mr Christie responded by thanking members for all of their solid support in developing the Tri-borough project.
